Paver Patios, Walkways & Driveways: What They Really Cost in NJ

Pavers are the highest-end exterior surface you can install — they outlast asphalt and concrete by decades, individual stones can be replaced, and the curb appeal bump is real. Here's what you'll actually pay in NJ.

2026 NJ paver pricing by project type

Paver patio: $22–$45 per sq ft installed. A 300 sq ft patio runs $6,600–$13,500.

Paver walkway: $25–$50 per sq ft (smaller jobs cost more per foot).

Paver driveway: $30–$55 per sq ft. They cost 3–4× asphalt but last 50+ years.

Belgian block border / curbing: $40–$70 per linear foot.

What drives the price

Base prep is 60% of the work. A proper paver install needs 6–10 inches of compacted base, geotextile fabric, and polymeric sand. Cheap installs skip the base and the pavers sink within 2 years.

Cutting, curves, and patterns add labor. A simple running bond is cheaper than a herringbone or circular fan.

Premium product lines (Cambridge ArmorTec, Unilock Brussels Block, Belgard Holland Stone) cost more upfront but include color guarantees.

Pavers vs. concrete vs. asphalt

Pavers: 50+ year lifespan, individual repair, premium look. Highest upfront cost.

Stamped concrete: 20–30 years, cracks are permanent. Mid cost.

Asphalt: 20–25 years, easiest to maintain. Lowest upfront cost.
